About the project

LIT-UP (Strategies to Support Languages Equality Through Literature) is a Creative Europe project born from an uncomfortable reality: the European publishing industry generates €22.4 billion in revenue, yet the five largest markets — the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy — concentrate almost all production in major languages, leaving publishers and authors working in minority or lesser-used languages in a critical position of survival.

Over three years, a consortium of eight organisations from across Europe — publishers, literary networks and a communication agency — developed competitive strategies to empower publishers and authors working in Valencian, Basque, Galician, Frisian, Slovenian, Serbian and Sardinian against the dominant players in the global market. The project structured its methodology around three pillars: professional skills development, creation of transnational commercial networks, and strengthening of sector intermediary agents.

Throughout the project, more than 300 participants from across Europe accessed four online training modules, nine international events, six specialised workshops and a final congress, building presence at the most relevant book fairs for European minority languages.

Three key project milestones

1. Online training platform with 4 specialised modules Design, development and management of a dedicated Moodle platform with four training programmes for publishers and authors in minority languages: management of international book fairs, literary promotional events, rights management and foreign rights negotiation. 2. Presence at 9 international book fairs and literary festivals The project participated actively in the most relevant events for European minority languages: Durango, Ljubljana, Torino, Leeuwarden, Krokodil, Galeusca, Reku Reku, BABA KAMO and Plaça del Llibre, building a transnational network among publishers, authors and literary agents from across Europe. 🔗 Activities and festivals

3. Final congress and recommendations guide for international literary promotion At the project’s close, the consortium published a guide of recommendations drawn from the workshops and the final congress conclusions, with replicable strategies for the international promotion of literature in minority languages. 🔗 D4.1 Recommendations guide · D4.2 Congress conclusions

Our work: communication, dissemination and exploitation of results

Acento Comunicación participated as a registered consortium partner, with direct responsibility for the design, development and management of the project website, the communication strategy and the production of all audiovisual and editorial materials.

  • Design, development and management of the project website Creation of the visual identity and the litup-project.eu website, with explicit credit to Acento Comunicación as official developer.   • Branding design and communication materials Creation of the project’s visual identity — logo, colour palette, typography and templates — and production of all graphic materials for social media, events and official deliverables, ensuring visual consistency across the eight partner countries.
